Virtual Club of Dangerous Women was a participatory performance art project that concerned itself with imaginaries of female violence against men. In a series of theatrical session set in Virtual Reality, women were invited to tell and stage their violent dreams, visions and fantasies. The digital public environment of the VRChat platform allowed the participants to overcome the physical limitations of biological sex, geographical locality, economical conditions, and cultural background, and appear as avatars. As such, the Virtual Club of Dangerous Women temporarily occupied the digital public space with scenarios of female violence, and examined approaches to intimacy, solidarity and connectedness in the virtual realm.
The project was conceptualised by artist and performer Katharina Haverich in collaboration with Lianne Mol and Yael Sherill, and realised with the support of Fonds Darstellende Künste in the frame of the #TakePart programme. The first session was presented as part of the Performing Arts Festival Berlin.
